School Meals Updates
During the pandemic, federal waivers allowed schools to offer free meals to all students. Congress let those waivers expire on June 30, 2022 so now we must charge families for meals unless they apply for and are approved to receive meal benefits.
Pelham City Schools strongly encourages all families to complete the Free & Reduced Meals Application before the start of the school year. Families must pay for school meals until their application is processed and approved, so please apply as soon as possible.
Remember, school meal applications are used for so much more than just certifying students for free or reduced price meals. Filling out an application can also provide:

  • additional funding for state and federal programs and services at our schools
  • may qualify your family for discounted rates on home internet service
  • may qualify you for reduced registration fees for AP, SAT, and/or ACT tests.

In addition, families who apply and qualify for free and reduced meals before August 31, 2022 will be eligible for Summer P-EBT benefits. These benefits will help feed children who are eligible when they are away from school. Read this memo for more information.
Free & Reduced Meal Applications
A new application is required each year to determine eligibility for free or reduced price meal benefits. Applications are now open for the 2022-2023 school year. Prior year applications expire on September 30. Click here for FAQs and a link to the online application.
